As a pioneer in digital fabrication I have always been passionate about exploring potential of 3D technology and it's applications in fashion and media-art.

Following this passion I built FabLab - a space where designers can access latest tools and technologies for 3D scanning, modeling and printing.

PROCESS
Starting an innovative project from scratch was a daunting task. We had to pave our way, create awareness and generate interest among potential participants and partners. We focused on demonstrating potential and possibilities of FabLab. We used different social media to reach out to the society and to network with creative and tech communities.
Building Fablab was a carefully planned process. Our ambition was to integrate in our project the best of existing Fablabs and co-workings all around the world. We studied different projects and work patterns, exploring their success and shortcomings. The study brought us solutions we needed. From strategic placement of equipment such as 3D scanners and printers to the design of the space. We focused on ensuring functionality and creating an environment conductive to creativity, collaboration and education.

As a result we have created a technological workshop with full-sized 3D scanner, 3D printers, services of 3D modelling and 3D visualisation.
Here you can learn to work at the intersection of art, fashion and technology.

CONCEPTUALLY FABLAB is more than a technologically- equipped space.

It is a dynamic community hub for fostering innovation, nurturing skills and inspiring collaborative creativity.

Drawing from my educational experience at the Parsons School of Design, I incorporated significant methodologies into the teaching framework of the FabLab internship program. Interdisciplinary design, a method encouraging the crossing of boundaries between different design domains, and iterative design, which promotes continuous improvement through cyclical prototyping, were key elements of the teaching strategy. These methods were chosen for their capacity to stimulate creative thinking, encouraging interns to view challenges from different perspectives and to refine their work. As a mentor, my goal was to create an environment where each intern felt empowered to explore and express their unique perspectives and ideas. My approach to mentorship was deeply personal. The aim was to help them identify their own artistic voice
Our main goal was to create an environment for sharing and collaborating, not just a technologically advanced space.

It was important to inspire artists and push boundaries in digital production. We welcome artists and designers who want to develop at the intersection of fashion and technology. Our internship programme included an integrated approach to training...

technology accessible to artists and designers.
We were able to gather a community of creative people open to join projects and experiments.

It is very valuable for us.

At the end of the internship we organized a large-scale exhibition in the centre of St. Petersburg. Many media publishers were excited to acknowledge our achievements.
Meeting at FabLab became a starting point for many trainees who implemented technologies in their own projects and develop fashion tech in Russia.
