Where designers can access the latest tools and technologies for 3D scanning, modeling and printing

[01]Good idea

GOOD IDEA

Inspiration for the FabLab at "Raskroi" was born from recognizing revolutionary impact of digital technologies on fashion and design industries.

As a pioneer in digital fabrication, I have always been passionate about exploring the potential of 3D technology and its applications in fashion and media art.

Following this passion we've built RASKROI FabLab, a space where designers can access the latest tools and technologies for 3D scanning, modeling, and printing.

[02]Building process

BUILDING PROCESS

Starting an innovative project from scratch was a daunting task. We had to pave our way, create awareness, and generate interest among potential participants and partners. We focused on demonstrating the potential and possibilities of FabLab. We used a variety of social media to reach out to the audience and to network with creative and tech communities.

Building FabLab was a carefully planned process. Our ambition was to integrate the experience of the best of existing fabrication laboratories and co-working spaces all around the world in our project.

We studied different projects and work patterns, exploring their success and shortcomings. The study brought us the solutions we needed, from strategic placement of equipment such as 3D scanners and printers to the design of the space. We focused on ensuring functionality and creating an environment conducive to creativity, collaboration, and education.

JOB RESULT

As a result, we have created a technological workspace with a full-sized 3D scanner, 3D printers, services of 3D modeling and 3D visualization.

Here, you can learn to work at the intersection of art, fashion, and technology.

Our specialists and equipment at FabLab help to develop digital clothes and virtual avatars. Visitors of the space can also use 3D printing and 3D scanning equipment.

[04]Launch story

LAUNCH STORY

However, conceptually FabLab is more than a technologically-equipped space. It is a dynamic community hub for fostering innovation, nurturing skills and inspiring collaborative creativity.

Our main goal was to create an environment for sharing and collaborating, not just a technologically advanced space.

It was important to inspire artists and push boundaries in digital production. We welcome artists and designers who want to develop at the intersection of fashion and technology. Our internship program included an integrated approach to training.

TRAINING

Snezhana PaderinaSnezhana Paderinaart director

Drawing from my educational experience at the Parsons School of Design, I incorporated significant methodologies into the teaching framework of the FabLab internship program. Interdisciplinary design, a method encouraging the crossing of boundaries between different design domains, and iterative design, which promotes continuous improvement through cyclical prototyping, were key elements of the teaching strategy. These methods were chosen for their capacity to stimulate creative thinking, encouraging interns to view challenges from different perspectives and to refine their work. As a mentor, my goal was to create an environment where each intern felt empowered to explore and express their unique perspectives and ideas. My approach to mentorship was deeply personal. The aim was to help them identify their own artistic voice.

[06]Result

FabLab has made technology accessible to artists and designers. We were able to gather a community of creative people open to join projects and experiments. It is very valuable for us.

[07]FabLab outcomes

FABLAB OUTCOMES

At the end of the internship we organized a large-scale exhibition in the center of St. Petersburg. Many media publishers were excited to acknowledge our achievements.

Meeting at FabLab became a starting point for many trainees who implemented technologies in their own projects and develop fashion tech in Russia.
